Time Flying Past

Hello all,

You wonder what happened to my Tuesday (P)Inspirational Post? Yeah, me too, seems time has played tricks on me and make me forget things. Currently in beautiful Padua, Italy, attending a work conference and with all the preparations and flights totally forgot about my post! Well, better late than never, eh?

So, without further ado, the inspirational pic for the coming two (well, 1.5 now) weeks is:

Lovely colours, flowers, dots. stripes, a lot of potential here! This is my take:

I have had the background paper in my stash for quite some time and really wanted to finally use it forever but wanted to do it 'justice'. So pretty! So to showcase it, I used the full sheet as my starting point. I love the outcome and so another beautiful paper finally goes into my album! This LO is about me turning 40, the photo was taken on my birthday too.

Challenges:
* Lasting Memories (Polka Dots) 30/9
* Kreative Inkauf (Anything but a Card) 14/9
* Sparkles Challenge (Birthday) 14/9
* Moving Along with the Times (Add a Number) 13/9

Kitchen Love

Good morning everyone!

This is my last LO I am sharing as a GDT for Lasting Memories, I have had a lot of fun making these 4 layouts! Thank you to Karen and Michele and the rest of the girls for giving me this opportunity, it's been great and I will definitely be back for the challenges! This week's challenge is inspired by a photo:

I've used the colour scheme and theme to scrap pictures of my daughter playing in her play kitchen, a Christmas gift from her Granny and Grandad. She is not yet 'cooking', but loves to play with the oven door (open, closed, open, closed, open.....) and dragging bits of the kitchen throughout the house. Oh well, every chef had to start somewhere, right? ;)

I hope this has inspired you to submit your own project to the challenge,
you have about a week to do so!

Challenges:
If You Give a Crafter a Cookie (Inspirational Cookie, I've used the colour scheme (red, black, white) and the heart/love theme)
My Time to Craft (Anything But a Card)
Alphabet Challenge (You Choose)

The Cutest Easter Bunny

Hello all,

Can you feel that? It's Christmas that is approaching! Oh lord, give me strength......let's just say I am not the fondest of the holiday season, but now that we have a little sweet pea it's actually getting more and more fun. It's just so stressful, this time before we have our time off, everything needs to happen at the last moment of course. However, on the up-side.....lounging in my jammies all day! Now that is a holiday tradition I can get behind ;)

Our challenge this week at Pinspirational Challenges focuses on this picture:

I

Ow, how adorable and lovely Christmassy! So guess what I did with it:

Funny how different the project looks from the inspiration picture, but I assure you I started out with the colour scheme in mind and went through my stash. I was hoping to find some tartan paper in either blue, green of red, but couldn't find any, so selected the red floral background instead. I don't know about you, but flowers are not really what I associate with Christmas (bar the Christmas roses of course). So I decided to keep using the colour scheme, but veer towards a more spring-like topic, like.....yeah, like Easter of course. Bear with me, people....That meant I had to soften the colours a little bit to match the theme, I added a little pink and a splash of yellow to make it match elements in the photos and hey presto: a project was completed, Let's call it artistic licence ;)

So perhaps you will be able to stick to the photo more, or perhaps you also like to make a cross-over project. Regardless, come and share and tell your story behind your work! Sponsor this time around is the Cutting Cafe, a great reason to play along. Hope to see you sharing your work with us!

Challenges:
* Crafty Cardmakers (Anything but a Card)
* Paper Nest Dolls (Anything Goes)
* Use Your Stuff (Layers, using papers, enamel dots, (letter) stickers and chipboard to layer)
* Creates and Makes (Anything Goes, optional Red, Green and Gold)

Winter Wonderland

Hello everyone!

Just two more sleeps until the big guy in the red suit arrives, how exciting! We are celebrating this year with the in-laws but decided to buy all the presents there so we don't have to drag them along with us on the way there. It sounds like a great idea now, but I really hope it has worked out because I can't imagine anything worse that having just a few days before Christmas and realising the presents you wanted to buy are nowhere to be found in the shops! Nothing like a good last-minute Christmas panic ;)

Just before we start celebrating, I want to share Ooh La La's last challenge for this year with you. The theme is "Winter Wonderland". I am sure that, like me, you have been working on snowy or icy projects (and perhaps still working? I hope it's not Christmas cards, poor you!) that you can share with us in the challenge. Materials:
* Ooh La La Snow Scene image, inside sentiment and DP from the Yesterday's Memories CD

* Pattie's Creations (Snowy Scene within the Image)

An Apple a Day......

Hi all,

This week at Delightful Challenges, the challenge theme is "Red, White & Blue", no doubt linking up with the 4th of July. As we don't celebrate that here in the Netherlands, I decided to make a Get Well Soon card using the lovely apple image. You know, an apple a day keeps the doctor away ;) The tear-shaped dew drops looked a bit like apple seeds to me, so I added it on there, even though the apple isn't cut in half.

I had to be in the city for a graduation ceremony of some of my students and on the way back I popped into a craft store. I bought this lovely set of stencils and had a play with one of them (the honeycomb) straight away on this card. I like the look and think I will be using it quite a few times! The set also includes handwriting, paint splashes and a brick wall stencil.

Materials:
* Digital Delights Apple digi, coloured with Promarkers & Spectrum Noirs
* Co'ordinations Vintage Collection Retro Mod Squad CS
* Panduro Design Stencil, using Chipped Sapphire Distress Ink
* Recollections Washi Tape
* Tear Dew Drops from Robin's Nest
* Personal Impressions Sentiment Stamp
* Red Glitter from stash

We are being sponsored by
Offering a 25 dollar store certificate to the challenge winner! Now that's a nice prize :)

Indoors Decoration

Good morning everyone!

It has been very quiet on my blog this week and I haven't been able to visit all the other blogs I love as I have been struck down with the flu :( Thankfully I am feeling much better again now, as a new challenge is starting today at Fab 'n Funky themed "WHAT'S INSIDE", one of my teamie Beccy's ideas, meaning that we want you to decorate the inside of your card. I always do that anyway, a great way of using up scraps of paper, but thought I would make a bit more of an effort this time around. I got to play with my new purchase, Card Candi, which I really enjoyed, so versatile but it doesn't add much in terms of weight to your card (very important if you want to mail your cards, which I usually will).

Here is my Christmas-themed card, both inside and out!

We are sponsored by Stampfairy this week, it would be great if you could come and play along with us!

Materials:
* Stampfairy Gingerbread Babies Hoola Hoop, coloured with Promarkers & Spectrum Noirs

Red & White

Hi all!

Red and White seem to be the colour combo of the week, as I will sharing two red & white creations with you this week. This is the first, for the Delightful Challenge themed "RED & WHITE". I've used a very old paper pad, one of the first ones I ever bought! I could hardly find it anymore with all my more recent paper pad purchases floating around as well. What can I say, I just love paper pads, they are my weakness :) I love the dark rich red colours here.

I've actually used a white geld pen to try and shade the cup a little, I was curious to know if that would work after I made a little mistake with my pens and picked up the darkest one instead of the lighter colour and proceeded to colour the entire thing before I realised my mistake. It's not as pretty as using markers, but perhaps I just need a little more practice!

Materials:
* Digital Delights Time for Tea Booboo, coloured with Promarkers & Spectrum Noirs

Being Festively Floral

Good morning all!

Just one more month until Christmas,can you believe it? But first, we are celebrating Sinterklaas on the 5th of December. Although mainly a children's celebration, my hubs and me still make a little occasion out of it, with a lovely meal and some Sinterklaar snacks such as chocolate letters and speculaas. I might do a little baking as well, always fun :) We don't do cards for that occasion though, so I am sharing another Christmas card with you instead. My card ties in beautifully with this week's Delightful Challenge, which is themed 'Festively Floral'. I'm sure that when you think of flowers at Christmas time, the poinsettia comes to mind, but I found these red flowers while I was combing through my stash that I thought might work just as well. I feel it does, but I'll let you be the judge!

Traditional Christmas Nutcracker

Hi all!

Another week, another Christmas card, although I've used a slightly different image than I usually do. I like Nutcracker images, but to me they don't really associate with Christmas very much. So I've never really used them for Crimbo cards. But now that I have I might start using them a lot more, the image is just so cute and works well with whatever colour scheme you can throw at it. This project uses the most traditional colour scheme for Christmas in my eyes: Red and Green.

Materials:
* Digital Delights Mr Nutcracker & Winter Tickets Sentiment set, coloured with Promarkers & Spectrum Noirs
* Dovecraft Jolly Happy Christmas DPs
* Red and Green ink
* Joy Craft Flower punch
* Eline's Winterhuis stamp set
* Ribbon, gem from stash

And what a coincidence, that's exactly what the Delightful Challenge has as its theme! With Christmas on its way, I am sure you have a couple of Red & Green projects kicking about, why not enter them?

Hi all,

Only 10 days until Christmas, can you believe it? It has really snuck up on me this year, we don't even have the tree up, not all cards are on their way and I still have to start baking and cooking for a great idea for a Christmas present (even if I do say myself). If I will have time to take some pictures I will post them. However, now I have another Christmas card to share with you. We at Friendship's Garden are challenging you to make a Christmas card without using stamps! Check out the challenge blog for more details, we'd love to see your makes!

I probably will not be posting much until the New Year, need to get all the pressies shopped and wrapped and focus on the cooking for now. So if I don't see you before then, have a great Christmas and a very happy 2012!

Red, White and Blue

Hello everyone!

How has your week been? It's so busy at my end right now; I had a work conference in the beginning of the week and my students are now scrambling to finish their thesis on time so that means a lot of paper grading! Oh well, in a few weeks we will be on holiday, I'm just holding on to that thought :)

It's time for another challenge over at Card Makin' Mams. So many beautiful entries again for last challenge, so if you have a suitable card please join the fun!

Our challenge this time around is "RED, WHITE AND BLUE"

We are sponsored by Robyn's Fetish, they are offering the winner either 5 digital stamps or 4 digital stamps and 1 paper set. Have a look at their website to see the collection: http://robynsfetish.com/shop/. They also provided us with some images to give you some inspiration, I used SS Hoppity, great name huh? It was such an easy image to colour as well, as some of the shading is already indicated, so you know where to colour in a bit darker. Great help for a colouring/shading newbie like me!

Materials used:
* White A6 base card
* Robyn's Fetish SS Hoppity image, coloured with Promarkers
* Studio Light DPs & borders inside (It's usually used with more traditional/vintage images, but I think it works great here as well)
* Create and Craft white ribbon
* Scalloped circle punch
* Sentiment, red gems from stash

I am submitting to these challenges:
* Craft Us Crazy (Red,White and Blue/Summer)
* A Spoonful of Sugar (Use Ribbon and at least one Bow)

"Easy" as 1-2-3

Hello everyone!

Hurray, Blogger is back in working order! Let's hope it stays that way, I had withdrawal symptoms ;)

This time, our challenge at Card Makin' Mamas is 1-2-3: 1 image, 2 different backing papers and 3 types of embellishments. I planned to make a card for our nephew who is turning 15 at the end of the month. The image selection was easy enough, but of course then I couldn't find two matchting backing papers in the colours that I wanted and after that I couldn't for the life of me come up with 3 embellishments that would suit a boy card. But finally I managed it:

The image is 3D, using 3D glue for the first time. Man, that stuff stinks! I might have to switch brands, I've heard really good things about Pinflair glue, might have to give that a go. Nevertheless, I'm pretty happy with the end result, as I think boy cards are the most difficult to make. And, a first for me, I managed to make myself tear backing paper! Granted, it wasn't the fancy stuff, but a girl has to start somewhere right? ;)

Materials used:
* Cars backing paper (free @ Printable Heaven: http://www.printableheaven.com/index.php)
* Artstamps "Big Sentiments" stamp (inside)
* Peel off numbers, striped backing paper, button, ribbon and black square embellishments from stash

I am submitting to these challenges:
* Pollycraft (Boyz to Men)
* The Ribbon Reel (Colour Combo)
* Stamps R Us (For the Men in Our Lives)
* Here Come The Boys (Anything Goes, but needs to be a card for a man)
* Cards For Men (Someone Special)
* Crafty Ann's Challenge Blog (Happy Birthday)
* Sparkles Forum Challenge (2 papers, 1 ribbon or bow, 2 embellishments)
* Secret Crafter Saturday Challenge (Dust off your stash; I've had this image for AAAAAGES!)
* Sentimental Sundays (Anything Goes)

The challenge will run for two weeks, so plenty of time for you to participate if you'd like. We are being sponsored by Some Odd Girl this time. Hope to see you there!

A Fairy Doodles Christmas

Good Morning all! Hasn't the weather just been great last weekend? We had some great days and went for a little bike ride on Sunday. It was great and lot's of people were about with dogs and kids.

Materials used:
* Basic Grey Jovial Backing paper
* Buzzcraft Fairy Doodle decoupage sheet
* Kars ribbon
* Gems and Merry Christmas stamp from my stash
* Stickles around the fairy image

I am pretty happy with this card, a very satisfying feeling to be able to use up some of my bits and bobs that were lying about on the crafty table!

Submitted to:
* Sparkles Forum Christmas Challenge (Ribbon and Gems)
* Allsorts (Anything but a square)
* Christmas Card Challenge (Bows)
* Crafty Sentiments (Glitter it up)
* Papertake Weekly (Anything Goes)

Another Christmas Card

Hi all,

Well, when I was saying last week that a lot of work was waiting for me, I wasn't kidding! I've spent all this week trying to catch up, meaning little time for making cards. But I finally have something to show you again, a Christmas card this time.

* Music backing paper from Dovecraft Tis the Season
* Red ribbon from stash
* Flora Doodles Primary Colours flowers
* Little peel off gems in the baubles

I know, the flowers aren't that Christmassy, but the colours combine great with traditional Christmas colours.

I am submitting to these challenges:
* Winter Wonderland (Baubles)
* Christmas Stampin' (Make it Yours)
* Crafty Hazelnut (Square card)
* Charizma Cards (Bling & Sparkles, it was so sparkly that I had trouble getting a decent photo, as the photo's above can attest.......)
* Delightful Sketches (Flowers)
* Incy Wincy (Sparkle & Shine)
* Paper Pretties (Bring on the Bling)
* Secret Crafter Saturday Challenge (Christmas in Spring)

Ciska
