Matchy-Matchy

Hi all,

Finally, some rain around here! I never thought I'd be so happy with a heavy shower :) It was pretty heavy though, we still had our windows and door open and that resulted in some local flooding but nothing that couldn't be fixed with a towel or two ;) It's still pretty warm and humid though, I hope that will go away soon too.

Anyway, on to this week's challenge @ Fab 'n Funky: "Make it a Set". Basically, we are asking you to make two or more projects that belong together: it could be a group of cards, a card & matching envelope or as in my case a Christmas card with a matching tag. I used the same colours, DPs and techniques on both elements to link them together.

We are sponsored by Digital Delights, Doodle Pantry and Stamp Art by Katherine, have a look at the challenge blog to find out more about their digis and much more.

* Digital Delights Caroling Petey and Circular Christmoose sentiment, coloured with Promarkers & Spectrum Noirs

To the One I Love

Good Monday all!

I don't know about you, but this hot weather certainly doesn't make me want to spend a lot of time in my sauna of a crafty room. To be honest, I'd rather sit in the garden with a history mag or spend a couple of hours in front of the fan watching a funny film with my hubs. However, I still want to be creative and try to craft for shorter periods of time, which works well but my progress is a lot slower.

We also had guests this weekend; one of my oldest friends and her husband spend some time at our house and stayed overnight. It was great to catch up with them, as we don't get to see each other that often.

But I did manage to make a card today's Ooh La La Challenge, themed "To the One You Love". I found an image that was already divided in two halves and thought it would be fun to make a gate fold card with it:

Materials:
* Ooh La La Together Forever image & DP from the Everyday Occasions CD
* Crafter's Companion CS
* Victorian Velvet Distress Ink
* Peel offs from my stash

Can't wait to see your creations, come and join us if you can!

Take a Picture, It will Last Longer!

Good morning all!

Well, that's me a year older! My birthday was on Monday and I turned 36, jeez Louise I'm getting old LOL. Ok, maybe not THAT old, but certainly on my way ;) Anyway, we had a lovely evening. Hubs wanted to take me out to dinner and a movie, but it being Monday lots of places were shut. We ended up at Micky D's, which was fine with me! We then saw World War Z, which I liked a lot, even though I am really not into scary movies. One reviewer said this is a zombie film for those of us that don't usually like zombie films and I think he hit the nail on the head there; not too scary but still startling and something disturbing (mostly off camera though). Never understood where all the zombies came from, but I guess that really wasn't such a big plot point here.

Anyway, from zombies to crafting, not a small step. Although, after a long crafting session, I might sometimes look like one ;) As it is Thursday, a new Delightful Challenge is starting up, themed "Celebrate with Glitter & Sparkle". I took a short cut for this one, cause even though I had the image coloured and ready to go for ages, I hadn't gotten round to making the card and with the deadline fast approaching and me being so tired I could barely keep my eyes open, I opted for using Glitter CS as a base for my glitter element and combined it with several pieces of scrap DP I have left over from previous projects. I used the Say Cheese Polly, which I think it such a lovely image.I bet it works great with scrapbooking pages too, haven't tried that yet but certainly will!

* Digital Delights Say Cheese Polly & Summer of Smiles Sentiment, coloured with Promarkers & Spectrum Noirs

On the Fringe

Hi all!

The weekend is nearing and boy, am I ready for it! I don't sleep so well when it's this warm indoors, so some mornings this week I sat at my desk with small red eyes, stifling a yawn ;)

Our challenge this week is "Fringe", it could be either paper or fabric but give us some fringes! I decided to stick to paper and thought that a beach scene would be perfect here. Think hula skirts and those parasols's you see everywhere along the coast. Jimmie was such a treat to colour in, great image! The sentiment set is great too, perfect for summery cards. I combined it a a sun stamp to create a little beach scene.

Christmas in July

Good morning all!

Phew, it is hot out there! Hot in here too, at work it's almost unbearable sometimes but I can't take any holidays yet so I need to soldier on for a bit longer ;) It's funny with this hot weather that our theme this time @ Fab 'n Funky is 'Christmas in July'! Have you started your Christmas cards yet? I started in January to be honest, so that I can mix Christmas projects with other types of craft. That way I don't get bored with Christmas Trees, Tinsel and Baubles :) We are sponsored by My Creative Craftroom and Dilly Beans, the latter providing us with some great images to use in our DT inspiration projects. I really like the style of these images; not too neatly drawn, just like in life ;)

Ebony & Ivory

Good Morning All!

Did you all have a good weekend? We had great weather all throughout Saturday and Sunday and we took full advantage. We had a great bike ride on Saturday and we had dinner in our back garden under the cherry tree, which is full of ripe cherries at the moment. I'd better come up with a couple of ideas to use those cherries up, as hubby isn't much of a fan of fresh cherries and I seem to have a slight allergy for stoned fruits. Cooked is okay though, so perhaps I will be making some cherry sauce or pie filling to stash in the freezer.

Anyway, let's get back to paper craft: I have a vintage make to share with you. Our Challenge theme this fortnight @ Ooh La La is "Ebony and Ivory". When I was preparing for this challenge, I realised I really don't have that much black and/or white items in my paper stash, so I cheated a little and also used greys. I tried using more layers & embellishments this time than I usually do and I'm pretty happy with the result.

Materials:
* Ooh La La Wedding Day from the Yesterday's Memories CD
* Echo Park For the Record & Kars Wedding DPs
* EMP Die Cut Paper (used for the base)

Wild Panda?

Hi everyone,

July already, my birthday isn't far away now! This year, me and hubby put our birthday money together and bough a PS3 and some games and we have already had so much use out of it, perfect birthday gift :) I can't get enough of the Lego games, it's just too cute for words LOL.

Anyway, the beginning of a new month also marks a new release over @ Delightful Challenges. This month, the new images all have to do with wild animals. I already knew what DPs I wanted to use with my image, Jubbly Panda, and immediately set to work. Not until I almost finished the card did I realise that a panda's face it white......major fail! Still, I thought it looked pretty cute, so I decided to leave it as it is.

The challenge theme this week ties in with the new release, as it is themed "Into the Wild", so use a wild critter on your project. So let's see those Wild Critter projects :)

No Squares Allowed!

Good morning everyone!

Hope you are all having a good week? I had a great day yesterday, because I found out that my first research project is going to be funded! Yay me ;) Seriously though, it's great news and a really great opportunity to showcase myself and the project. So you can imagine I am in an extremely good mood :)

Our challenge theme this week over @ Fab 'n Funky is "Don't be Square", so use other shapes on your project than square. Great theme Angelique :) I decided to go for a circle card, as I hadn't done them in a while and they're always so cute. We are being sponsored by Digi Darla & Stampart by Katherine this week, so most of the DT is using one of their images.
