Christmas Cutest Critters

Hi all,

Just one more sneaky post just before Christmas, as I left the most important Christmas card a little late, the one for my dear hubby. Last year, I totally forgot to make him a card, so this year I wanted to make him a special card. Not too frilly, he is a guy after all, but cute nonetheless. I was scanning through my digis and this one jumped out at me. I hope he likes it!

* LeCreaDesign Home & Family Lilac DP
* DCWV The Glitter Cardstock Stack Brights

* Gems from stash

Well, I'm pretty sure that's it from me until the new year, plenty of baking and cooking to do and not much time in the crafty room I reckon. Anyway, I wanted to wish you all a very merry Christmas and all the best for the New Year. I have been fortunate enough to be at the receiving end of your lovely comments for another year, which have all been very much appreciated. Thank you very much for spending some of your precious time on my little corner is the blogosphere and I hope you will continue to do so for a little while longer :)

Little Boy Blue Birthday

Good morning everyone!

This is my last DT card for 2012! It's Delightful Challenges this time, themed 'Anything Goes'! I used the opportunity to stop making Christmas cards for now and make my dad's birthday card. His birthday is on Boxing Day and he and my mum are coming over to our place to celebrate, but I still wanted to have a nice card to give him in person. I've used the Little Boy Blue set, as it reminded me of him. He must have had quite a number of snoozes against a haystack when he was still a farmer, as he loves sleeping ;) The sentiment says: Wake Up, It's Your Birthday!

Materials:
* Digital Delights Little Boy Blue set, coloured with Promarkers
* DCWV Photo Stack 2 & First Edition Up Up & Away DPs
* Vintage Photo & Tumbled Glass Distress Ink
* Computer-generated sentiments

Ribbon and Old Lace

Good morning everyone!

A few years back on holiday in Ireland, we went to see a play in Kilkenny called 'Arsenic and Old Lace'. It was hilarious, we were howling with laughter! I later discovered it is actually a movie from the 40s. This great experience came to mind when I saw the theme for this week's Fab 'n Funky challenge "Ribbon & Lace". I'm not much of a ribbon/lace user, so this was actually pretty difficult for me to come up with something fab or funky ;) Let's hope these cupcakes aren't laced with arsenic, that would put quite a dampener on things LOL.

Materials:
* Meljen's Design Cupcake Treat Trio, coloured with Promarkers
* Create & Craft Pastel CS
* Dovecraft Piece of Cake DP
* Computer-generated Hey Cupcake sentiment, Circle sentiment from the Internet (can't remember where)

Hi everyone!

I just realised, only 5 more DT cards to make before Christmas! It really is coming fast now, have to switch over from making Christmas cards to actually writing and mailing them now. Christmas Pointsettia

Happy Monday all!

Did you enjoy your weekend? I went to see my parents, due to teaching commitments I hadn't been able to go for quite a while so it was great to catch up and spend some time together.

Today I'm back in crafty mode. It seems all I am making these days are Christmas cards, I am amazed that I still have some new ideas for cards! This time I went with a more vintage-like style, using some Distress Ink and my trusty Distress Tool. The card came together pretty quickly in my head, I had already coloured and glittered the Poinsettia and the rest just came together naturally. Such a shame you can't make out the sparkle in the photo, but it ultrasparkly in real life! I made this card hoping to inspire you to participate in the new challenge over at PCD, themed "Christmas Flowers".

* Scalloped base card
* Platypus Creek Digitals Poinsettia, coloured with Promarkers
* Crafter's Companion Iridescent Glitter Spray

Being Festively Floral

Good morning all!

Just one more month until Christmas,can you believe it? But first, we are celebrating Sinterklaas on the 5th of December. Although mainly a children's celebration, my hubs and me still make a little occasion out of it, with a lovely meal and some Sinterklaar snacks such as chocolate letters and speculaas. I might do a little baking as well, always fun :) We don't do cards for that occasion though, so I am sharing another Christmas card with you instead. My card ties in beautifully with this week's Delightful Challenge, which is themed 'Festively Floral'. I'm sure that when you think of flowers at Christmas time, the poinsettia comes to mind, but I found these red flowers while I was combing through my stash that I thought might work just as well. I feel it does, but I'll let you be the judge!

Double Triple Threat

Hi all!

We're a week into our birthday celebrations @ Fab 'n Funky and our challenge continues for another week! Since we didn't get as much entries as we wanted for our birthday challenge, we've decided to change the theme a little bit so you can also participate with any Winter/Holiday themed projects you are most likely working on. So it could be a project for any occasion, but you still need to use "Three of the same things or number 3". Here's another example to get you inspired, again with a birthday theme. We got to use some images from the lovely DigiDarla, another one of our sponsors. I've used three pearls on my card.

Traditional Christmas Nutcracker

Hi all!

Another week, another Christmas card, although I've used a slightly different image than I usually do. I like Nutcracker images, but to me they don't really associate with Christmas very much. So I've never really used them for Crimbo cards. But now that I have I might start using them a lot more, the image is just so cute and works well with whatever colour scheme you can throw at it. This project uses the most traditional colour scheme for Christmas in my eyes: Red and Green.

Materials:
* Digital Delights Mr Nutcracker & Winter Tickets Sentiment set, coloured with Promarkers & Spectrum Noirs
* Dovecraft Jolly Happy Christmas DPs
* Red and Green ink
* Joy Craft Flower punch
* Eline's Winterhuis stamp set
* Ribbon, gem from stash

And what a coincidence, that's exactly what the Delightful Challenge has as its theme! With Christmas on its way, I am sure you have a couple of Red & Green projects kicking about, why not enter them?

Buttoning Up @ Christmas

Happy Monday Everyone!

It's time for another Platypus Creek Challenge, themed "Christmas with Buttons and a Bow"! This time, I've used PCD Holly Leaves to accentuate a main image on my card and replaced the berries with some lovely buttons I recently picked up at my local craft store. The holographic DP is also a new impulse buy, I was standing in line for the cash register at a department store when I noticed these beauties glistening on a shelf nearby. There a tons of sheets with different colours and patterns, so expect them to feature in more of my Christmas Cards designs! The only drawback is that the paper is so thin, it's difficult to cut straight with my cutting tool. What do you think?

Materials:
* PCD Holly Leaves
* Snowman & sentiment stamp from unknown set, stamped with black ink and Chipped Sapphire Distress Ink
* DPs from stash
* Marianne Letters & More Background stamp
* Dovecraft Back to Basics Christmas Vintage button set, stitched with metallic thread from a local craft store (Pipoos)
* Create & Craft ribbon

A Ditzy Sketch

<<This is my second post for the day, You can find my CCAYR DT post below!>>

Hello again crafty friends!

Today is also the start of a new Delightful Challenge, which is a "Sketch" this time! If you've been following my blog, you know how I feel about sketches, they're not my favourite challenge type. But I do think I managed to adhere to the challenge, well almost at least. I didn't include a bow, I don't know why but I can't seem bows to work on my projects. They make everything bulky, they fall off, there's glue everywhere......they just don't do it for me. So I replaced it with some chipboard. Oh, and i just realised I didn't mat the sentiment like in the sketch either, so I wasn't as good as I thought I was ;)

I also had the wonderful idea to turn the sketch into a gatefold, forgetting that if I would cut away the bottom bit of the sideflaps the card wouldn't be able to stand! So I made a little easel style stand from a cutoff piece of Kraft and stuck that on the back. Problem solved :)

A Shapely Christmas

Hi all!

I can't believe it's November again, where does the time go? I say that with every passing month though :)
Nevertheless, I don't think any of us can deny that Christmas is coming fairly close and we all need to get a move on with the Christmas card. Perhaps the November challenge @ Christmas Cards All Year Round can help you out with some inspiration? This month, the challenge is "Shapes or Fancy Folds". I've made an Easel card, I love making this fold! Our sponsor this month is Beccy's Place, who also provided us with some great digis for our DT projects. I've used Quilt Puddings:

Materials:
* Create & Craft CS

* Basic Grey Jovial & Dovecraft Noel DPs
