Red, White and Blue

Hello everyone!

How has your week been? It's so busy at my end right now; I had a work conference in the beginning of the week and my students are now scrambling to finish their thesis on time so that means a lot of paper grading! Oh well, in a few weeks we will be on holiday, I'm just holding on to that thought :)

It's time for another challenge over at Card Makin' Mams. So many beautiful entries again for last challenge, so if you have a suitable card please join the fun!

Our challenge this time around is "RED, WHITE AND BLUE"

We are sponsored by Robyn's Fetish, they are offering the winner either 5 digital stamps or 4 digital stamps and 1 paper set. Have a look at their website to see the collection: http://robynsfetish.com/shop/. They also provided us with some images to give you some inspiration, I used SS Hoppity, great name huh? It was such an easy image to colour as well, as some of the shading is already indicated, so you know where to colour in a bit darker. Great help for a colouring/shading newbie like me!

Materials used:
* White A6 base card
* Robyn's Fetish SS Hoppity image, coloured with Promarkers
* Studio Light DPs & borders inside (It's usually used with more traditional/vintage images, but I think it works great here as well)
* Create and Craft white ribbon
* Scalloped circle punch
* Sentiment, red gems from stash

I am submitting to these challenges:
* Craft Us Crazy (Red,White and Blue/Summer)
* A Spoonful of Sugar (Use Ribbon and at least one Bow)
* DieCutDreams (Red, White and Blue)
* I Love Promarkers (Anything Goes)
* Ladybug Crafts (Use Red)
* Passion for Promarkers (Park Life)
* Scrapbook Sisters (Anything Goes)
* Southern Girls Challenge (Anything Goes)
* Hooked on Craft (Anything Goes)
* Polka Doodles (Stashbox stamps & colour theme)

Right, that's it from me, one last day of work at it's the weekend! Woohoo! I am planning to spend much of it sleeping and catching up my buddies' blogs :) Enjoy your weekend as well, whatever you will be doing!

* Snowman 3D image from Studio Light
* Pretty Paper Bloc Scandinavian Christmas backing paper
* Co'ordinations paper (red)
* Silver mirror board embossed with a Crafter's Companion embossing board (stars) and cut out

I think this is one of the first times that I am submitting to a sketch challenge. I always find them so hard, even though this was a fairly simple sketch.

Right, that's it from me. I will be away for most of the week next week for a conference, so I will try and share something with you later in the week. At the very least a Card Makin' Mamas DT card, our next challenge starts on the 24th! Have a great weekend :)

Father's Day NL

Good evening all,

Well, yesterday turned out to be a quite nice outing, we started the day with Flamengo dancing classes! It was actually good fun, although I am no dancer. The afternoon was spent inside dark caves, I didn't go in, but co-workers said it was quite nice. Rather them than me! We ended the day at one of my colleagues' house to have a BBQ in the back garden. Unfortunately by then it had started to rain, but we had a huge party tent so we all stayed dry and so did our hamburgers and chicken legs :)

As promised, here is my father's day card for my own dad. He used to be a farmer so it could very well be him on the tractor :)

Materials used:
* 3d image and backing papers: Studio Light
* Flowers and buttons by Papermania
* Co'ordinations inside paper
* Eline Vintage Stamp Set
* Brad, letters, ribbon from stash. I've used bit from an old shiny envelope to matt the image.

Challenges to be submitted to:
* Simply Create (All about you dad)
* Creative Inspirations (Card for dad)
* Sisterhood of Crafters (Celebrating dad)
* Bows and Berries (Masculine)
* Craft Your Passionm (Anything Goes)
* Delightful Sketches (Father's Day)
* Lexi's Creations (Father's Day)
* Sparkles Forum (Father's Day)
* Craft Us Crazy (Father's Day)
* Crafting for All Seasons (Father)

Today we went out and bought another laptop, I have now one all to myself :) Can use if for work, but more importantly for crafting, so I'm pretty happy with that.

Have a great (long?) weekend, hopefully the weather is a bit better over where you are!

Birthday Boy

Good morning all!

Woohoo, almost weekend! Are you all off on Monday like me? A lovely long weekend. Today we are having a teambuilding day from work, I usually don't like that kind of thing, except for the dinner and drinks after ;) Oh well, let's see what they have in store for us this year.

Ok, enough jibber jabber, on to my card. This time, the Card Makin' Mamas Challenge is to

"MAKE A CARD WITH OR FOR A CHILD"

Now, we don't have any children as well as no children to speak of in the family  (at least not one that knows who I am LOL), so I decided to be a bit cheeky and make a card for my hubby. Well, he can be a big child sometimes ;) This time we are being sponsored by 2 Cute Rubber Stamps, and yes, the name really says it all. We were generously given several digis to work with, the winner will be walking away with  2 rubber stamps or 3 digi stamps, is that a good prize or what? They also have a couple of freebies on their website, so if you like the images that we have been working with you might want to check that out too.

Here is my card, I've used "To the Moon"

I know, what's up with the space theme again, can't I make any other cards? Well, no, I guess I can't  ;)

Materials used:
* 2 Cute 'To the Moon', coloured with Promarkers
* Crafters Companion cream cardstock (leftovers from my wedding invitations)
* DP from the Natural Stack, DCVW
* Sentiments, aliens, robot border and robot inside from Papercraft Inspirations (Freebies)
* Black glitter on the image, letters inside, starry brad, orange mirror board behind the main image and orange ribbon (which is horribly skewed inside, but I had stuck it on already and couldn't get if off, story of my crafty life) from my stash

Do you have the same thing, that half of the stuff you own you have no idea where it came from, who bought it and what you were thinking when you thought 'that might come in handy'? Huh, only me then ;) I never thought I was going to use up those letters, but they actually look pretty cool on this card. I am thinking about using it for my dad's father's day card too, which I will probably be showing you in the weekend.

Challenges to submit to:
* Bearly-Mine (Anything Goes)
* DYSU (Birthday)
* Fussy & Fancy (Card for a Man or Boy)
* Incy Wincy (Tic-Tac-Toe, I've used a brad, ribbon and a green sentiment)
* Lady Bug (Male Theme)
* Ooh La La (Birthday)
* Paper Sundaes (Let's Get Sentimental)
* Paper Shelter (Celebrations)
* Sentimental Sundays (Inspired by song: Fly me to the Moon by Frank Sinatra)
* Fab 'n Funky (Magnificent Men)

Well, what do you think? I would love to hear your feedback, also on how I can get a more even cover with my Promarkers, to me it still looks a bit blotchy (especially on the rocket). Have a great weekend and I'll see you a little later! Thanks for stopping by :)

Ciska

PS My hubby gave me these gorgeous crafty papers for our anniversary, aren't they beautiful?

The big pad has flocked papers, so beautiful, nice to stroke as well :)

Lovely Weekend

Hi all,

It's been a bit quiet this week on my blog, but rest assured I will be posting another card tonight and one on Friday! We have just come back from a lovely celebration weekend for our 'paper' wedding in Apeldoorn (NL), it was lovely. We had the greatest weather, we were very lucky with that. On Friday, we had a walk in the gardens of the royal palace and on Saturday, we visited the Airborne Museum near Arnhem, which was really interesting. All in all a great weekend, such a shame we had to come back ;)

Right, I will be seeing you tonight with a Christmas card, stay tuned!
