Vintage Scene

Hello all!

This time at the Pinspirational Challenge, we have such a lovely inspirational photo, you can go so many ways with this!

You can use theme or colour scheme, you can take it very literal or just use the concept.....I loved working with it! My only problem was picking what I would take from the photo. Eventually, I spotted some postcard paper and a postage-themed stamp set, so decided to take the vintage theme for a birthday card for my dad, who is celebrating his 80th birthday on Boxing Day. Unbelievable....time flies!

I tried to really make it look like a postcard, with the stamps in the right place (I was also careful not to cover up the word Post-Card in any way), and it feel like I pulled it off ok. So how will you interpret this photo for your own project? Come on and join the fun! Our sponsors this fortnight are Elizabeth Bell and Kitty Bee, so why not take a change and try for a win?

Challenges:
* Dream Valley (Winter Birthday)
* Get Creative (AG)
* House of Cards (Lots of Layers and/or Colours)
* Ooh La La (Vintage)
* Scrap 'n Challenge (Autumn Colours)

Five GOOOOOLD Rings!

Hi all,

Do you have that special crafty stash that you don't use, but just look at? Yep, me too; I have several  Graphic 45 retiring lines' pads that I bought on special but never got round to using as I kept taking them out and looking at the lovely images and felt bad for even considering cutting  it up. But not anymore, dear readers! I have actually made a card with one of my pads and I once I got started I thoroughly enjoyed myself :) I've used the Twelve Days of Christmas pad; I kept singing the song as I was crafting. As a matter of fact, it's still in my head! I am sure people who walked by our house this week were a bit puzzled to hear a Christmas song over and over again, as I didn't quite realise I left the window open....... Anyhow, my other Graphic 45 pad are for the chop now as well, no more hoarding ;)

For My Mum

Good morning everyone,

It's Mother's Day today in the Netherlands and of course I made a card for my mother to send to her. I decided to revisit my old crafty stash and delve into all the decoupage books I have that never got used up. I found this adorable image with matching DPs that seemed just perfect for the occasion. Together with lots of embellishments I have found in my stash, I made this card. It doesn't open like a regular card, but you need to slide away the front to reveal the message inside. I made a double bow to bulk up the ribbon a bit, but it's still a dainty bow to me. Anyway, my mum should have received this card by now, so it's safe to post it here as she is a loyal follower of my blog and I didn't want to spoil the surprise. Let's hope she likes it!

Hi all!

I hope you all had a nice weekend, mine was lovely having spent it visiting my parents and enjoying each other's company. It's always a tiring weekend, as I need to travel for several hours to get there and back, but worth it!

As usual, another challenge is starting today @ Ooh La La, themed "FOR A SPECIAL LADY". I used this challenge to make a Mothers' Day card for my MIL, as the UK Mothers' Day is coming up soon; in the Netherlands we don't celebrate it until May. Get Creative with Doilies

Hi all,

This is my last week at work before Christmas, can you believe it? There's so much I still need to do before the holidays, it can't be around the corner just yet! Oh well, I suppose time doesn't wait for any (wo)man.....

That also means there is a new challenge over @ Ooh La La and this time I'm the host! Our theme this week is "USE A DOILY DIFFERENTLY".

Doilies are really popular in the crafting world right now and I can definitely see why; they really add a little something extra to a project, especially vintage-style projects. Of course you can use them as is, but I want to challenge you to think outside the box a little bit and alter your doily. Cut it, stamp it, colour it, emboss it, fold it, do whatever you feel, as long as you don't use the doily straight out of the packet! The DT girls have incorporated fantastic ideas in their project to share with and inspire you.

Here's mine, I've used a doily to create a border:

Materials:
* Ooh La La Pretty as a Picture image and DP from the Passion for Fashion CD
* Kars Wedding DP
* Dovecraft Cupcake Boutique Paper Lace Doilies
* MS Doily Lace edge punch
* Memories Direct Flowers
* Vine peeloffs from local store (Xenos)
* Anna Griffin Letters and Border stamp set
* Victorian Velvet Distress Ink
* Brad and gems from stash

I'm curious to see where your creativity will lead you :)

Challenges:
* Crafty Creations (Anything but Christmas)
* Creative Moments (Anything Goes/Vintage)
* Allsorts (Anything but Christmas)
* Crafty Girls (Anything Goes)
* Delightful Challenge (You're a Gem)
* Rhed and Rosie's Challenge Blog (Use Your Old Stash) --> Everything but the image and matching DP is at least 1 year old
* Pile It On (P is for....) Punch, Pink, Portret
* Scribble & Scrap (Anything Goes)
* Creative Fingers (Anything Goes, Optional Easel)
* Avenue 613 (Anything Goes, Optional Calendar)

Christmas Cookies

Good morning everyone!

Wow, the minute the clock is set back an hour, Autumn arrives! We are expecting a storm or at least very heavy winds, which I found out when I biked to the train station this morning, I hardly moved forward! But now I'm safe and sound inside again, I'm just dreading the return trip......

I have a Christmas card to share with you, it's getting closer and closer folks! I made this card for the new Ooh La La Challenge, which is "Food and Drink". I love this vintage image, it's from my favourite OLL CD, Yesterday's Memories. I've used up some of the scraps I had from this paper pad on the inside of the card, I can't bear throwing such cutoffs away, but you only need to many little paper strips right? What a dilemma......Anyway, hope you can join us this fortnight, it's a fun theme which is open for a lot of different interpretation, so I'm extra curious to see what you will come up with! Check out the blogpost to see all my teamies' creations!

Oh man, it's hot! This really is too much for me, so I am spending my days primarily sitting in front of our fan downstairs. For obvious reasons, I can't take the fan upstairs to the crafty room, so I literally had to sweat on this card I am sharing with you today for the Ooh La La Challenge.

Our challenge theme this fortnight was my pick, being "STEP BACK INTO TIME"! So use a vintage image  and come and play along with us :) On the challenge blog you can see more examples from the excellent DT. We've had some new girls join us over the last month, so there's plenty of fresh ideas!

Ebony & Ivory

Good Morning All!

Did you all have a good weekend? We had great weather all throughout Saturday and Sunday and we took full advantage. We had a great bike ride on Saturday and we had dinner in our back garden under the cherry tree, which is full of ripe cherries at the moment. I'd better come up with a couple of ideas to use those cherries up, as hubby isn't much of a fan of fresh cherries and I seem to have a slight allergy for stoned fruits. Cooked is okay though, so perhaps I will be making some cherry sauce or pie filling to stash in the freezer.

Anyway, let's get back to paper craft: I have a vintage make to share with you. Our Challenge theme this fortnight @ Ooh La La is "Ebony and Ivory". When I was preparing for this challenge, I realised I really don't have that much black and/or white items in my paper stash, so I cheated a little and also used greys. I tried using more layers & embellishments this time than I usually do and I'm pretty happy with the result.

Materials:
* Ooh La La Wedding Day from the Yesterday's Memories CD
* Echo Park For the Record & Kars Wedding DPs

A Vintage Christmas

Hi everyone,

Another month has come and gone, can you believe it? I was just trying to recap what happened in this month but with everything I thought of it was: No, that was the month before or before that. What DID I do in May? I really couldn't tell you, except that we have revamped our garden with new soil, planted a little fruit & vegetable garden and took out some old manky bushes that weren't very pretty and basically in our way. It's still an ongoing project, but it's already looking way better than before, so that we already have so much more joy from our garden then we did last year.

Anyway, I'm babbling now, let's get to the point shall we? A new monthly challenge is starting @ CCAYR, sadly this will be my last. But I'm glad I got to do this challenge, as the theme is :"VINTAGE". I am not a real vintage crafter, I love the style and seeing others' projects who are really going the whole hog, but when I craft I am giving it my own twist by keeping it fairly CAS (for vintage anyway). I love this little image, it's so incredibly cute!

* Ooh La La Baking Day image for the Yesterday's Memories CD

Christmas Pointsettia

Happy Monday all!

Did you enjoy your weekend? I went to see my parents, due to teaching commitments I hadn't been able to go for quite a while so it was great to catch up and spend some time together.

Today I'm back in crafty mode. It seems all I am making these days are Christmas cards, I am amazed that I still have some new ideas for cards! This time I went with a more vintage-like style, using some Distress Ink and my trusty Distress Tool. The card came together pretty quickly in my head, I had already coloured and glittered the Poinsettia and the rest just came together naturally. I made this card hoping to inspire you to participate in the new challenge over at PCD, themed "Christmas Flowers".
